2012 vs 1992: The Introduction

Kobe Bryant stated that the U.S. Basketball team could indeed defeat the 1992 Dream Team. Jordan chuckled at that comment, but not so fast Mr. Jordan.......yes, the Dream Team will remain the best collection of athletes ever in the history of sports but, do you really think this game could be a blowout??? In the next few blogs, I will be comparing both teams in the following categories: offense, defense,rebounding, athletism, and coaching. Then I will make on choice on who I would think would win in a matchup between the two teams. To end this post I will post the rosters of both teams as well as the coaches and the alternates.

1992 Dream Team:
Centers: David Robinson, Patrick Ewing
Power Forwards: Christian Laettner, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley
Small Forwards: Larry Bird, Scottie Pippen, Chris Mullin
Shooting Guards: Michael Jordan, Clyde Drexler
Point Guard: Magic Johnson, John Stockton

Head Coach: Chuck Daly
Assistant Coaches: Coach K, Lenny Wilkens, P.J. Carlesimo

Alternates: Shaquille O'Neal ( Laettner was given the final spot on the team over O'Neal)

2012 Olympic Team:
Centers: Tyson Chandler
Forwards: Kevin Durant, Lebron James, Kevin Love, Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin
Guards: Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Andre Iguodala

Head Coach: Coach K
Assistant Coaches: Jim Boeheim, Mike D'Antoni, Nate McMillan

Alternates: Anthony Davis (Took Blake's spot due to injury), Rudy Gay, Eric Gordon
